The causes and preventive measures for the damage of high-efficiency filter materials

2026.10.13

During the use of high-efficiency filters, the damage to the filter material can directly lead to excessive particulate matter in the cleanroom. Many clean workshops have failed to meet the cleanliness standards, and the root cause is the damage to the high-efficiency filter material. The common causes of filter material damage can be divided into two categories: installation damage and operational condition damage. During installation, if the filter is knocked or squeezed during handling and installation, micro-cracks will be formed in the glass fiber filter material; if the installation frame has burrs or sharp protrusions, it will also scratch the filter material. In terms of operational conditions, sudden wind pressure impact and intense airflow fluctuations in the system will pull the filter material; in a high-humidity environment, water vapor will soak the filter material for a long time, reducing its strength and making it prone to layering and damage; if the front-end pre-filter fails, a large amount of large particles will impact the filter material at high speed, causing it to be punctured.

During installation operations, the filter should be handled with care, and it is prohibited to press the filter material area; before installation, check the box body and flange frame, remove burrs and sharp corners, place the sealing rubber strip flat, evenly lock the bolts diagonally, and avoid local force and pressure on the filter plate. During system debugging, the fan should be gradually increased from low air volume to avoid sudden strong wind impact on the filter. In high-humidity conditions, select moisture-resistant high-efficiency filters, and regularly replace the front-end pre-filter to reduce the entry of large particles into the rear section.

Equipment features: The glass fiber filter material of high-efficiency filters is relatively brittle and has weak impact resistance. Before leaving the factory, each unit will undergo leak testing, referring to the EN1822 standard. For H13/H14 high-efficiency filters, once the filter material is damaged, it cannot be repaired on-site and can only be replaced directly. Filter material damage of high-efficiency filters is a serious fault that will directly damage the cleanliness level of the workshop. By doing a good job in installation protection, stabilizing the system air volume, and implementing graded filtration protection, the probability of filter material damage can be effectively reduced, ensuring the stable production of the cleanroom.
