More than twenty years ago, in the northeastern part of Beijing's urban area, there was a large factory with a workforce of 14,000 people. Its annual revenue was only 80 million yuan, and its debt-to-asset ratio reached 90%. The entire enterprise was in a state of disarray, and even chickens were raised within the factory area. In any case, you will never associate such an enterprise with BOE, which is now highly respected by the public and has a total asset of nearly 150 billion RMB.
On October 15, 1956, the Beijing Vacuum Tube Factory held its groundbreaking ceremony. The factory had an investment of 100 million yuan and was designed to produce 12.2 million vacuum tubes annually. It was one of the largest vacuum tube factories in Asia during the 1960s, with a total of nearly 10,000 employees. Before the 1980s, the Beijing Vacuum Tube Factory had always been the largest and most powerful electronic component factory, and was a key enterprise in the electronics industry and the defense industry.

However, by 1992, the Beijing Vacuum Tube Factory was on the verge of collapse. At the age of 35, Wang Dongsheng took over as the factory director and began to carry out radical reforms of the enterprise. Based on the 6.5 million yuan raised by 2,600 employees, Beijing Eastern Electronics Group Co., Ltd. (BOE) was established.
The correct survival strategy, strong technical accumulation, and the high enthusiasm of the employees helped BOE survive through the most difficult entrepreneurial period, laying a solid foundation for its current status.
