Initial Efficiency Filter Test Method
I. Weighing Method
The test dust source is large-diameter, high-concentration standard dust. The main component of the dust is selected and sourced from a specific area, and then a certain amount of fine carbon black and short fibers are added. The standard previously stipulated the use of dust from a village in the Loess Plateau, most countries stipulated the use of "Arizona Road Dust" from the desert area of Arizona (USA), and Japanese standards stipulated the use of "Kan East Clay" originated from Japan. The "quantity" measured is the dust weight.
II. Filter Efficiency and Test Method
The filtration efficiency of the air filter is the ratio of the captured dust quantity to the original dust content of the air;
The filtration efficiency of the initial filter is equal to: 1 minus the ratio of the dust content in the downstream air to the dust content in the upstream air.
The termination condition for the weighing method test is: the agreed final resistance value, or when the efficiency significantly drops. Here, "agreed" refers to the agreement between the customer and the tester, or the stipulation of the tester himself. Obviously, different termination conditions for the test lead to different weighing efficiency values.
The actual meaning and detailed values of the filter efficiency vary depending on the test method. In engineering, there are various methods of representing efficiency specifications using codes.
The filter is placed in a standard test wind tunnel, and dust is intermittently emitted from the beginning. At regular intervals, the weight of the dust passing through the filter or the dust accumulation on the filter is measured, thereby obtaining the filtration efficiency of the filter calculated based on the dust weight at that stage. The final weighing efficiency is the weighted average of the efficiency at each test stage based on the dust emission amount.
At the termination of the test, the weight of the filter containing the test dust is called "dust holding capacity".
The weighing method is used to measure low-efficiency filters, which are generally used as pre-filters in local air conditioning systems.
The weighing method test is a destructive test and cannot be used for the daily product performance testing of manufacturing plants.
